But I doubt that this is an ask “ASK.”

When does CHINA “ask” any entity IT OWNS to do anything?

He’s definitely put his MOUTH where his MONEY is.

Not mine, mind you.  Because I don’t have evidence.  But it’s a thesis that bears exploring.

It could be left holding the bag on worthless Russian sovereigns PLUS have to pay out on CDS’s it sold to clients.

Folks, we’re facing a VERY STEEP ENERGY CLIFF which was there even before Russia invaded Ukraine.  We can probably get through the next few quarters, but at WHAT PRICE?  And afterwards, CAN WE PREVENT DEMAND DESTRUCTION AND A RECESSION?

Berman DOESN’T THINK SO.
