Peterson on Political Correctness

I may have posted this before, but it’s such a riveting video I watched it again in its entirety.  And though it’s from 2017, the situation Peterson describes has only gotten worse.  At least, by MY lights.  So again, here it is.

Jordan Peterson/Political Correctness and Postmodernism

Yes, what are Postmodernism and Neo-Marxism doing in bed together if a) the former claims no theory or system should be canonically privileged and b) Marxism’s murderous history in no way recommends it for favorable consideration of any kind, let alone CANONICAL STATUS, particularly when conferred by those who believe that such validation, by definition, isn’t VALID.

Peterson’s answer:

Postmodernism = Resentment + A Desire for Power on the part of those who have boatloads of the former but very little of the latter.  And, yes, let’s address that — BUT ON a REALITY-EMBEDDED BASIS.  And if, indeed, this is all one big power struggle, LET’S HAVE THAT STRUGGLE and see whom EVOLUTION FAVORS.

But this moral condemnation, shaming and bumptious righteousness coming from all manner of SELF-IDENTIFIED OPPRESSED MINORITIES — the entire intimidation and shakedown routine this involves, leading to self-castigation, cancellation and DEMANDS FOR REPARATIONS and other FINANCIAL FREE LUNCH — IS JUST SO MUCH COVER.

The Woke Left wants a fight?

LET’S HAVE THE FIGHT.

Because what’s going on now is a PROPAGANDA CAMPAIGN.  It’s so much easier to win over the majority in this country when you’re pulling on their MORAL HEARTSTRINGS than when ACTUALLY CONFRONTING THEM WITH DEMANDS THAT CAN ONLY BE SATISFIED AT THEIR EXPENSE.

Watch all the EMPATHY drain away once those demands hit the majority’s POCKETBOOK.

Self-Operating Napkin

What a tech challenge!

Not to worry, though. I hear they’re working on improving it. Tesla, Amazon and Google have created a JV to root out the kinks. And they’ve figured out how to fund it with a self-funding machine that runs via the BLOCKCHAIN.

The first plant will open in 6 months in either Syria or Afghanistan. It could lead again to our dominating one or the other of those countries.

Sounds promising, no?

The End for Clint Frazier?

On Clint Frazier and Non-Baseball Medical Concerns

I’ve been a Frazier fan since he first came to the Yankees.  My hope was that he’d develop into a great franchise player along the lines of, say, Paul O’Neill or Bernie Williams.  Maybe even Mike Trout light, the Angels’ great centerfielder.

But this vertigo-vision-neck thing could very well end his career.  As someone who quit college football due to a neck injury, I realize how serious this can get.  But in my case, I was ready to stop.  I doubt that’s the case with Frazier and baseball, yet he may not get to decide.

I hope he recovers and stays with the Yanks, but I’m starting to doubt it will happen.

Ex-Spook Tweets

I’m posting this not because I’m necessarily endorsing it — though there are sections I wholeheartedly agree with — but because IT’S NEWS.

From Bryan Dean Wright, ex- US intelligence officer.  And I quote:

  • Former US intelligence colleagues are angry and deeply worried at what has happened in Afghanistan. Here’s what I’m hearing, and why there’s nearly universal belief that America and the world are in for one of the most dangerous, unpredictable times in modern history.
  • Afghanistan has shown the world — enemies & allies alike — that our military & intel assets are largely irrelevant because we can’t deploy them successfully. The blame lays at the feet of multiple Presidents. The Generals. The Spies. The Congress. America’s Elites are trash.
  • China knows it. They will become emboldened, covertly & overtly. War over Taiwan and contested islands in the S. China Sea and E. China Sea is now more likely. Russia will consider similar covert & overt moves, focused on Crimea, & former Soviet satellites.

Palantir Buys Over $50 Million of Gold Bars

TUDOR PLACE:  Reports of gold’s demise have AGAIN been greatly exaggerated.

As for Palantir itself — YO, BRO!  Why so late to the party?  We’ve owned gold for 15 years.  Welcome to the world!

From Zero Hedge:

“Anyone watching Tuesday’s US market cash session sees red across the board. One of the strongest sell programs in months dumped stocks at the start of trading on Tuesday, and equity volatility spiked to the upside. As Nomura warned looking the arcane gamma topology underpinning the market, this could be the beginning of a market storm. And ahead of what could be further market turmoil, Palantir Technologies warned about an upcoming “black swan event,” according to Bloomberg.

“The software company, co-founded by the technology billionaire Peter Thiel and CEO Alex Karp, wrote in a filing last week that it stockpiled $50.7 million in gold bars earlier this month.  The filing also said it acquired technology startups, blank-check companies, and even cryptocurrencies.

“Palantir had previously said it would accept Bitcoin as a form of payment for its services, along with payment in precious metals (however Bloomberg quoted a spokeswoman from Palantir who said no clients have paid in Bitcoin or gold yet).

“Palantir’s move into physical gold and cryptocurrencies is continuing the global de-dollarization trend…”

Jordan Peterson Meets Bitcoin

Oh, and what a confluence it is!  Truly, it doesn’t get much better than this.

Bitcoin: The Future of Money?

In this one, Peterson hosts four EXTREMELY BRIGHT young men who’s assignment is to EXPLAIN BITCOIN to him.

They include:

  • John Vallis, host of Bitcoin Rapid Fire
  • Richard James, creator of the film Hard Money which deals with money’s corruption
  • Gigi Der, a software engineer who writes code for Bitcoin
  • Robert Breedlove, ex-hedge fund manager, digital currency philosopher and host of The What Is Money Show

I repeat:  EXTREMELY BRIGHT LADS.

Here are the concepts discussed in the order in which they appear in the video:

  • The question of value
  • Money as the reflection of value through sacrifice
  • Wealth taxes
  • Inflation
  • Central planning
  • The free market as a form of democracy
  • Pathological hierarchies
  • The corruption of value by deception
  • Austrian economics
  • The representation of truth across scales
  • Bitcoin as both the map and the territory
  • Bitcoin as a means of decentralizing time
  • Collective energy efficiency
  • The entrepreneur as mythical hero
  • Central banks as the root of evil
  • Inflation as central bank theft
  • Bitcoin as pure information
  • Bitcoin as an ethical standard
  • Money as the natural extension of speech and action
  • Prices as speech
  • Bitcoin as a tool that maximizes the sovereignty of the individual
  • Bitcoin as free speech money

Never have I experienced Bitcoin discussed in such philosophical and moralistic terms.  And while Peterson gets what these gentlemen are saying, I doubt he agrees with all of it as NOT ONCE does he mention INNATE MALEVOLENCE, a key part of his understanding of humanity.

I spotted three weaknesses in the arguments presented in the discussion:

  • a) there is no understanding of how feedstock energy reserves make both Bitcoin and all things digital POSSIBLE.  They do discuss energy somewhat, but there’s that USUAL TACIT ASSUMPTION — as is generally the case in discussions like this — that SUFFICIENT ENERGY SOURCES WILL ALWAYS BE THERE.  That’s a BIG IF, they simply don’t consider.  Like others, they forget that the digital world is merely the superstructure and that without a primary energy INFRASTRUCTURE, THERE IS NO SUPERSTRUCTURE.
  • b) they do not give nearly enough attention to security considerations and, once again, BLITHELY ASSUME that Bitcoin is and will remain an INCORRUPTIBLE SYSTEM.  Frankly, I was astonished by this as it’s already been penetrated many times.  Plus, Der even conceded at the outset of the discussion that when talking about Bitcoin it’s NOT WISE TO INVOKE CERTAINTIES BUT RATHER ONLY “PROBABILITIES.”
  • c) there is ZERO DISCUSSION of SOVEREIGN STATE TAKEOVER of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.  Again, this is a GIANT OMISSION — since when have governments or even more primitive elites not CONTROLLED MONEY ISSUANCE, taking AT LEAST their skim in the process?  If central banks, creations of sovereign states, are as evil as these gents claim, will they just let decentralized currencies flourish unmolested?  I don’t believe that FOR A SECOND.

These caveats aside, though, I couldn’t more vigorously recommend this video.  It’s a real EYE OPENER and will tell you a lot about the philosophical and libertarian underpinnings of the entire CRYPTO MOVEMENT.

BUT YOU MUST BE STRONG.  It’s approximately 90 minutes.

But then, hey, DON’T WUSS OUT.  YOU CAN DO IT!

The China-Taliban Minerals Play

Kyle Bass has been all over this.

TUDOR PLACE: All of this is spot-on, save the last bit about our so-called “honorable mission.” We, too, knew those minerals are in the ground and since we couldn’t support the Taliban due to its politics, we went with the other side.

Yet, once again, we learned — assuming we actually did learn — that it’s easier doing deals as an authoritarian with other authoritarians than trying to build democratic societies we THEN seek to plunder through neoliberal capitalism.

Face it, America. China has a quicker draw.

And what’s the bottom line lesson?

YOU CAN’T BE AN EMPIRE ABROAD IF YOU EXPECT TO REMAIN A DEMOCRACY AT HOME.

In time, one or the other must go. And in some cases, BOTH.

BOOK IT.

Lake Powell Water Crisis = Lake Mead Water Crisis

Lake Mead is facing a water crisis but Lake Powell which feeds it via the Colorado river is facing an even deeper crisis.

From Mike Shedlock:

Colorado River Supply

“Lake Powell feeds Lake Mead. The Colorado River supplies both.

“Lake Powell is part of the Colorado River Upper Basin and Lake Mead is in the Lower Basin.

“Think of Lake Powell and Lake Mead as one big reservoir, connected by a Colorado River canal.

“Lake Powell cannot supply Lake Mead with water because Lake Powell is at an even more critical water level than Lake Mead.”

Some visuals:

Elevation Stats

  • Max Level: 1,229 Feet
  • Level in 2000: 1,200 Feet
  • Current Level: 1,068 Feet
  • Decline Since 2000: 132 Feet
  • Drop to Zero Power: 118 Feet

As per Shedlock:

“If the water level drops 118 ft. from July’s level, to 950 ft., it would fall below the turbines and the dam must shut down, said Patti Aaron, public affairs officer at the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.”

The money shot:

Shedlock:

Unless things get suddenly wet and stay that way for a long time someone is going to run out of water or power or both.”
