Peterson: Wearing Makeup in the Workplace

One of my favorite Jordan Peterson dialogues.  Not the first one with the news woman — that one’s good but mainly informative — but the second with the Chinese fellow.

I simply love seeing how Peterson attacks a subject.  It’s almost as though his argument is not coming FROM him so much as THROUGH him from some PLATONIC SOURCE OF PURE LOGIC.

And in this case, both ends of the discussion play like something written by Harold Pinter or Tom Stoppard. What it shows is the FUNDAMENTAL DRAMA inherent in two minds interacting in debate.

Fascinating.

Can Men and Women Work Together?

War as “Free Enterprise”

Marine General Smedley Butler nailed it:

And Afghanistan was certainly part of that racket.

As is always the best advice, FOLLOW THE MONEY.  Here is how we spent it.

But will we ever see who profited most?  Or a list of those in whose interest the Afghanistan war and other recent wars of its type were waged?

I’m not suggesting outlawing war or even that the US should reorder its strategic priorities.  Both are almost CERTAINLY IMPOSSIBLE.

I just want to know who the winners in this WAR BUSINESS — or RACKET — are.

Cui bono?

My sense is our goal is not to WIN WARS but simply to WAGE THEM.

PERMANENT WAR = PERMAENT CASH FLOW

B of A’s Inflation Meter

Inflation is REAL, and it doesn’t appear to be MERELY TRANSITORY.

Core PCE is at its highest level since 1983.

In June, transitory inflation was at an historically high 100 on B of A’s Inflation Meter while PERMANENT INFLATION logged in at 75.

Today, persistent inflation has risen to 90.

So, what’s next for permanent inflation on the B of A meter? 100? It could very well be. Check out the Bloomberg US CPI Forecast for 2021.

I sure hope people are HEDGED.

Safe Cities Index

In case we ever start traveling abroad again . . .

“The Economist Intelligence Unit has published its 2021 Safe Cities Index, ranking 60 major global cities across 76 indicators based on digital, health, infrastructure, environmental and personal security.”

Safest city?  Copenhagen.

As for American cities on the safest top 20 list, New York ranks 12th; DC, 14th; San Francisco, 16th; L.A., 18th and — SURPRISE, SURPRISE — Chicago, 20th. I guess a lot of people DON’T GET MURDERED THERE every weekend.

Here are the cities to stay away from:

Among these, I’ve been to Mexico City, Johannesburg, Casablanca and Caracas and found LITTLE TO LIKE in any of them, save THE GREAT MOSQUE at the edge of the Atlantic in Casablanca.

But check out The Economist’s entire 2021 Safe City Index. It’s a gas.

Clean Energy, You Say?

It’s becoming increasingly clear that there’s NO WAY that so-called renewables will allow humanity to transition away from hydrocarbon usage any time soon.

Yet, we certainly can do it faster by mixing in NUCLEAR.  Yes, it’s been a bad word and a forbidding concept, but, by now, WE DON’T HAVE A CHOICE.

Nitrous Oxide to the Rescue?

Get a load of this.

“A well known antimicrobial, Nitric Oxide, has been found to rapidly reduce SARS-CoV-2 viral load, knocking it down by 95% within 24 hours, and 99% within 72 hours, according to a recent study by researchers funded by England’s NHS foundation trust and SaNOtize Research & Development Corporation – a Canadian biotech company currently conducting Phase II trials of a nitric oxide nasal spray.”

I don’t know about you, INTREPID READERS, but as for me, this bears CHECKING OUT!
